What are Special Taxing Districts?

 Special Taxing Districts are local government units with power to provide some governmental or quasi-governmental services and to raise revenue by taxation, special assessment, or charges for services within limited boundaries. They are authorized by State Statute.

 Types of Special Taxing Districts: TIF  - Tax Increment Financing, TOD – Transit Oriented Development, CID – Community Improvement District, SBD – Special Business District
