Central West End

The Central West End is one of the most prominent neighborhoods in St. Louis and is home to a multitude of housing stock, locally owned shops, restaurants and boutiques and easily accessible public transportation. Adjacent to Forest Park and Washington University Medical Center, it is one of the most walkable neighborhoods in St. Louis.

Location

The neighborhood’s boundaries are Union Boulevard and the eastern portion of Forest Park on the west, I-64/US 40 on the south, Delmar Boulevard on the north, and Vandeventer Ave on the east.

Neighborhood Organizing

The resident led West Pine Laclede Neighborhood Association meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7 PM at Northwest Coffee. Read more about the Neighborhood Association here.

Central West End Association serves as a resource for residents, visitors and institutions in the neighborhood. Learn more about CWEA here.

Our Efforts

The southern portion of the Central West End has two special taxing districts. The Euclid South Community Improvement District and the Central West End Southeast Special Business District. Special Taxing Districts are managed by a Mayor appointed Board of residents, business owners and renters and allow for the capture of sales taxes within these areas. The funds collected are invested back into the area and help to finance initiatives to keep streets clear of trash, repair sidewalks, market the area, hold special events, install pedestrian lighting and hire additional police patrols. Aside from providing technical assistance to the Special Taxing Districts, Park Central Development manages the Central West End Development Committee which meets on an as needed basis.
